Chereka means ‘moon’ in Amharic.
This multidisciplinary series is inspired by the myriad cultures and traditions of Ethiopia. This project takes elements from diverse identities, their history as visually represented and interpreted via a contemporary context. ‘Chereka’ serves as a portal to the future of our own imagination: culture, architecture and traditional rituals are some of the influences on this project which allows the fusion of different elements that often don’t mix, giving birth to new perspectives and possibilities.
